First Takes
Sense of Place

10 Years, black and white photograph by Jonathan Kane.
What do you get when you combine an art association, a magazine and two 10th anniversaries?
A very unusual photography exhibition, called “10 Illustrated.” In celebration of Naples Illustrated’s and the von Liebig Art Center’s 10th anniversaries in 2008, NI has teamed up with the Naples Art Association to sponsor and jury a NAA members’ photography exhibition during the summer.
The exhibit invites artists to consider the potential of 10. How can 10 be illustrated as a theme? What is the meaning of 10?
The show is open to photography or mixed-media works incorporating photography—such as collage, photomontage, hand-colored photographs, graphic design, compositing and computer illustration.
Palm Beach Media Group (parent company for Naples Illustrated) Design Director Olga Gustine and Naples Illustrated Art Director Reynaldo Martin will jury the show. A members’ Preview Reception will be Friday, July 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibition runs through August 3.
Selections from the exhibit will be published in Naples Illustrated’s September issue.
